WTF IS EATMEPOPTART???

Since April this year, we couldn’t ask for a better homecoming. It has been such a thrill to catch up old faces from 2019 and before, and, also, meeting a new intake of popettes.

For those who have been sharing the dancefloor with us pre-2020, we reckon you already know the score for our various parties and events. But for those freshpersons who are visiting us for the first time, here’s a little a little ‘Dummy’s Guide’ to give you a little more familiarity of the various monthly parties. So, here is ‘WTF is Eatmepoptart’, for your reading pleasure.

ELECTRIC FEEL

We can’t ignore the 80s resurgence we’ve had recently: from Kate Bush taking the mantle of queen once again, deservedly, after Stranger Things S04, to MCU’s Thor and Guardians Of The Galaxy hamming it up with 80s anthems, and DC’s The Peacemaker going hair metal, the 80s are once again popping up in our faces at every corner.

What’s there not to love about the 80s? it’s got some of the brightest and most far-out fashion, ice-breaker hairstyles, and music packed with all the sweetness and punch.

Even though many of you youngems didn’t experience the 80s, for one evening every month, Electric Feel transports you straight back into the golden decade with this fabulous tribute. Expect 80s-inspired fashion themes, big hair, and John Hughes references.

THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT

Over the years, during our nights, we’ve had many people ram their phones to our faces with unsolicited song requests- which are, more often that not, plenty of 90s and 00s pop. So, in 2018, when we were figuring out what kinda party we wanted at Hopheads, we came up with the concept for The Kids Are Alright - an ‘anything goes’ pop night where we go 100% guilty pleasure pop-music from the past decades up till to present day hits. Feel the need to make a song request? Why not wait a bit before you bug the DJ, cos they’re probably gonna play it at some point anyway!

NEVER LOSE THAT FEELING

The crown jewel that has made Eatmepoptart, well, Eatmepoptart. It all started in 2004 where we would throw parties at clubs that were willing to take a chance on us. The DJs would throw in music that resonated with our angsty teenage years – Grunge, Britpop, alt rock, punk, power pop, along with fresh music during that time, from the new Britpop revival to Electroclash. Fast forward to 2022, the party has taken us to various club residencies- Homeclub, The Butter Factory, Zouk, Kyo and Hard Rock Café, to festivals- F1, Laneway, Baybeats, Mosaic, and to show overseas from KL to Frankfurt.

Originally just called Eatmepoptart, the night has been rebranded to Never Lose That Feeling this year, and currently resides as a monthly event at Hard Rock Café- with a melting pot of classic and new anthems in the way of Alt Rock, Britpop, Pop-rock, and the occasional pop tunes from the decades. Our little rock-fest turns 17 years old in December this year!
