We love meeting folks of different generations at the Eatmepoptart parties. For this edition of Meet The Popettes, the subjects are posed some questions about their generation, their likes and peeves of the other gens, along with a little quiz on some weird lingo. The results ranged from insightful to hilarious.
So, we are excited for y’all to meet Aish, Smriti, Grant, Chelsea, Grace, Thea and Nicholas!
AISH & SMRITI, Gen Zs
Your fav thing about your GEN & the other GENs?
Smriti: Girls supporting girls. Parents genuinely are trying to expand their thinking. It’s hard but we appreciate them trying. They’re always thinking about what to say also.
Aish: How passionate everyone is. Ride or Die. Love it.

Your least fav thing about Your GEN & the other GENs?
S: Our generation is a bit judgemental. It’s either this or that– no rules for gray zones.
A: We don’t give each other grace to learn. We’re privileged to have access to information.
S: and generational trauma. Whole point is to make it better for the future and not go through the same things they did.
What do you think about GEN Alpha’s slang?
S: I don’t know anything about it.
A: Skibidi
S: Oh maybe.. GYAT. It’s about Big buns right? I GYAT to see that.
Fav song/artist from your GEN and other GENs?
S: Kendrick, but it depends on mood.
A: Charli xcx
Both: Other gen would be… Britney, Tina Turner, MJ, Megan Thee Stalllion.

Your fav thing about your GEN & the other GENs?
Music wise, golden age of music 2010s decades
GEN Z - how open minded, that's something Millennials don't have, very open, open to any sexuality, very inclusive
GEN X - work ethic, they had to but Millennial and GEN z about strawberry gen
BOOMER - willingness to make sacrifices, they made the most sacrifices
Your least fav thing about Your GEN & the other GENs?
Mine + Gen Z - wishy washy, not committed looking for next best thing etc
Gen X - not too sure
BOOMER - Very rigid, see things very binary, lack openness
What do you think about GEN Alpha’s slangs?
SKIBIDI - my nephew is 11 he just told me LAST night! Apparently it means bad but ??? It's bizarre.
GYAT does it mean good? In what language
MID - I know I know, i know this one!! very average
CAP - NO CAP! Is that how I use it? No limit??

Your fav thing about your GEN & the other GENs?
CHELSEA: Our openness, I know that’s a very political answer *laughs*
GRACE: What I love about humans in general - Our want for authenticity and connection. I think that’s what unites all of us. Different generations express it differently, I think Gen Z is much more open.
Your least fav thing about Your GEN & the other GENs?
(GEN Z DISLIKES)
C: We can sometimes be a little bit judgemental.
G: We are very quick to throw judgment because we grew up in the era of the internet where it’s a very black and white world - yes or no. *pauses and starts singing YMCA* Our yes today may not be our yes tomorrow. Being comfortable in our opinions - like this is my stance for now.
C: MICRO TRENDS. I feel like every week there’s something new that I can’t keep up with. I mean it’s cool and sometimes I give into micro trends. But it’s also we don’t need to … the newest hot thing.
G: I think that’s why you see GEN Z going into two very different extremes - some Gen Zs that give into trends like fast fashion, and then some that likes thrifted, recycling. There’s two ends of that spectrum.
OTHER GEN DISLIKES
C: Ironically, also judgment. But I guess across every generation is the same.
G: Expression but everyone does it differently.
What do you think about GEN Alpha’s slangs?
G: SKIBIDIDIDIDI!!!!
C: My sister is technically Gen Alpha and she keeps saying ‘Awesome-sauce’.
G: That’s technically re-using 2010s Tumblr era.
C: If it’s ‘Awesome-sauce’ it basically means awesome but I don’t understand what the ‘sauce’ is there for. Like I’ll say something and if she thinks it’s cool then she’ll say ‘Oh my god that's so awesome-sauce’.
G: I don’t get why everyone goes around saying SKIBIDIDIDI, I was really confused.
G: Y’know what ‘GYAT’ sounds kinda cunty. It has a very cunty feel to it.
C: It’s kinda like ‘Slay’ … *starts singing Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay*
Fav song/artist from your GEN and other GENs?
C: The song that I’m listening to on repeat is - well it’s so basic - it’s ‘Taste’ by Sabrina Carpenter. The music video is so fun and that song is so catchy, it just scratches an itch in my brain.
G: Mine is a little old. It’s ‘Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off’ by Panic! At The Disco. That’s my go-to!!! It’s so cunty!!! *starts playing the song*
C: It’s summer - brat summer. So anything off of ‘brat’ by Charli XCX. I love it.

Your fav thing about your GEN & the other GENs?
We all assholes haha (don't quote), I don't hang around ppl my age. Our sense of humour.
Millennials - alot of my friends are Millennials I appreciate when they read my college essays I like when they take me out for meals cos I'm little mei mei, I see them as older bro and sis I been treated as such I really appreciate it, they try to give me what they didn't have.
Gen X - I love my parents!!! I think they try their best given circumstances, naturally generation differences they try to understand they don't always get it but it's okay since they try
BOOMER - idk many boomers, internet likes to make fun of boomers. It's hard transitioning into internet era. Try to be kinder, it's hard for them. I work with older ppl so I understand its hard for these new ideas. So be kinder to them, try to understand more patience.
Your least fav thing about Your GEN & the other GENs?
My generation - too online, need to get offline more
MILLENNIALS - You guys are gna be our bosses, you know what's it's like to be in our situation.... Not at least favourite thing but you know be aware you know what it's like to be young.
GEN X - Omg, people who don't age well cos is my gen that has to deal with it. Get your health in check, write your WILLs. They don't think about your consequences.... This is so Asian one of the gifts relatives can give is their end of days plans or a will. It's hard to make that choice. Saying goodbye is hard. They may pass away suddenly even though they seem healthy so pls be prepared. Be healthy now so when you're older it's not too late. start now.
BOOMER - LONELY, it hard cos it friends die off. I struggle cos they lose interest in life and become bitter. It's hard and sad for ppl around them. Asian society. Ppl who take care of you. Not the least favourite but something I personally struggle with. I feel sad. So many regrets I feel sad.
What do you think about GEN Alpha’s slangs?
I met some the other day, stresses me out.... The humour is NOT PG..... I said skidibi toilet to someone and she was so excited she thought I was cool!!! GEN Z need to show alpha some grace....... It's not my job but if there isn't anyone....we are screwed....they gna say things they gna get into trouble without knowing why.
GYAT - get your act tgt, official meaning but it just means NICE ASS
MID - mediocre, kinda Eh
CAP - lying!! I'm speaking the truth (Millennial says speak the truth)

I listen to a lot of millennials music.....so hard

Thea: More vocal about human rights.

Millennial: dared to be original, they paved the way for us.
Gen X: They made the mistakes so we can learn from them.

T: very reactionary, don't really think before we organise politically...it's really annoying.
Millennials: stop thinking y'all are better than us. Y'all were cringe too.
Gen X: why my mum cane me so much???
Boomer: stfu, just because I work service doesn't mean you can be rude to me. :( (big sad) massive sad
