GET INTO THE GROOVE: 5 ESSENTIAL TRACKS FOR ELECTRIC FEEL
If you think we’ve partied enough this July, you couldn’t be more wrong. Just when we were needing it the most, Electric Feel is making its roaring return on the 30th, bringing some of the grooviest tracks of the golden era of music to the dancefloor.
Here are 5 essential classics we’ll be dropping that night. Turn your calendars back, don your sparkliest outfits, and shake your groove thang with us!
1. DEXYS MIDNIGHT RUNNERS - “Come On Eileen”
Kicking off this shimmering list is this massive anthem by English rock band Dexys Midnight Runners. Call them a one-hit-wonder, but there’s no denying that “Come On Eileen” in itself was more than enough to engrave their name in the history books. It’s got the perfect combination of youth, absolute incredulousness and insatiable rhythm that’d get anyone on the floor dancing away and yelling “Too-Rye-Ay” in unison!
2. NEW ORDER - “Blue Monday”
New Order weren’t messing around when they crafted this beast. The song starts with its unmistakable click track, steadily unfolding with each fresh layer of synth, bass and rhythm.
By the time Bernard Summer sings his cold, faceless “How does it feel”, this mammoth of a track has you dancing like there’s no tomorrow.
3. BEE GEES - “You Should Be Dancing”
If you didn’t hear any Bee Gees at Electric Feel, were you really there? Find a mirror and start practicing your moves, cuz we’re expecting you to pull those John Travolta shapes under the mirrorball when we this timeless banger drops.
4. THE CURE - “Just Like Heaven”
We don’t know any other band that can make us feel things quite the way The Cure does. The soaring synths and gorgeous guitar riff, sprinkled with some of Robert Smith’s finest songwriting, just get us every single time! “Just Like Heaven” finds a unique balance between rock and pop, carving itself a very special spot in our Electric Feel armoury.
5. KATE BUSH - “Hounds of Love”
We’re so glad to see Kate Bush finally get her fully deserved recognition after Stranger Things, but we thought we’d send some love to the song that follows after “Running Up That Hill” opens the album. “Hounds of Love” (also the album title) begins on an explosive high and keeps the energy at a maximum, as Kate Bush’s vocals effortlessly dance through the anthemic track. We’re itching to play this for y’all!
