Yeah Yeah Yeahs

In a week, the EMPT Social kicks off our first ROBOT RESIST! party at Phuture, bringing you a romping night of indie disco, electro remixes and thumping nasty house.

We sift through our ROBOT RESIST! music vault and pick out ten dancefloor missiles we’ll be dropping at the party. Check em out the ten, go deep into our playlist, and get set for a stomping night out next week. Get your rave on and see ya’ll on the dancefloor!

1. Confidence Man - “First Class Bitch (Working Men's Club Remix)”

This remix puts the “Robot” in “Robot Resist!”. Confidence Man’s “First Class Bitch” gets a perfect cold and stomping remix by Working Men’s Club, giving us a huge electro banger!

2. Fontaines D.C. - “A Hero's Death (Soulwax Remix)“

This is as indie-disco as we wanna be: the Soulwax remix of Fontaines D.C.’s anthem injects some quality disco into the post-punk track. Essential cowbells and phat basslines are added to the laddish spoken-word vocals, telling us it’s time to march on!

3. Sylvester - “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) (Soulwax For Despacio Remix)”

We cannot deny the power of Soulwax’s tracks and remixes for indie-disco dancefloors. Recently, the brothers have supercharged the disco hit by Sylvester. Preserving the disco feel of the original, Soulwax have added just the right amount of pizzazz to give us a remix so phat it’s a crime not to dance to.

4. WhoMadeWho - “Satisfaction”

A punk-funk remake of the Benny Benassi’s club hit, WhoMadeWho nails it with this all-time favourite cover. The raw and punk-fuelled energy reigns supreme the track. Absolute floor-filler.

5. Two Door Cinema Club - “Talk (Black Devil Disco Club Remix)”

“Talk” is a number already sprinkled with disco elements. What Black Devil Disco Club brought to the table with this remix is a touch of mystery- filled with psychedelics, an infectious rolling bassline, and a load of bleeps to give us more silly disco dancing!

6. Duke Dumont - “Ocean Drive (Purple Disco Machine Remix)“

The original version of “Ocean Drive” was an evening road trip with your bae on a cushy convertible, breeze on your faces and such. Change the mode of transport to a brightly painted pickup truck, add six more mates at the back, drive a little faster, and feel the wind brushing your faces hard, and that’s exactly what the Purple Disco Disco Machine remix feels like!

7. Lana Del Rey - “Summertime Sadness (Hannes Fischer Nightflight Remix)”

LDR’s 2012 hit received a tech-house treatment from German producer Hannes Fischer. 4x4 house beats, an groovy bassline, plus that reverb-filled XX-styled guitar fills, and you get yourself an wispy anthem for dancing to a perfect sunrise.

8. The Naked And Famous - “Young Blood (David Andrew Sitek Remix)“

Super producer Andrew Sitek sprinkles a little genius into TNAK’s banger “Young Blood”, transforming the banging track into a indie-disco bop you can appreciate with smiling, sweaty faces moving in emotive slow motion.

9. Foster The People - “Pumped Up Kicks (Gigamesh Remix)”

What happens when you put a little funk into the already anthemic “Pumped Up Kicks”? The result is a crowd moving in unison in a loved-up-gyrating-hips kinda way. Always a favourite!

10. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - “Heads Will Roll (A-Trak Remix)“

Released in 2009, the remix has been a YYY’s biggest dancefloor hits for more than a decade. A-Trak put an tasty electro spin to the Karen O-fronted rock anthem, looping the signature intro hook throughout the track- causing plenty of damage and mayhem on the dancefloors and our blood pressures.
