Meet The Popettes: Sherlyn and Billy
The most important thing at all the Eatmepoptart parties is the people who turn up. Watching you guys pull shapes on the dancefloor is what keeps the music playing, and what keeps us going. From the club kids to the curious cats, from the rock stars to the pop princesses, we get to know a little more about the kids we meet on the dancefloor, one Popette at a time.
Tell us a bit more about Disco Hue.
Sherlyn: Disco Hue started five years ago…
Billy: Very long ago – with Zee, the mastermind. It started when he idolised a few bands but couldn’t find that sound in Singapore, so we decided to start a band with that sound. That’s just a gist of how we started. Along the way he picked us up.
What are some inspirations for the band?
B: It has changed a lot over the years, for now, a bit of 1975, but…
S: Our upcoming album, it’s less pop. Still pop, but..
B: Still pop, but also consumer-friendly. A little more out there, I would say! But still digestible.
Two Truths and One Lie
1. We are always early.
2. One of us can’t type properly – we rely heavily on autocorrect.
3. We have financial issues.
When I grow up, I wanna be…
S: When I grow up, I wanna be doing marketing for an airline or something that allows me to travel.
B: When I wanna grow up, I wanna be a dad with two kids.
We met Sherlyn & Billy in March 2017 at LoveLive, Montreux Jazz Cafe. Disco Hue performs at Local Motion, 23 September. Click here for more info.
