Meet The Popettes: Eugene
The most important thing at all the Eatmepoptart parties is the people who turn up. Watching you guys pull shapes on the dancefloor is what keeps the music playing, and what keeps us going. From the club kids to the curious cats, from the rock stars to the pop princesses, we get to know a little more about the kids we meet on the dancefloor, one Popette at a time.
Don’t expect cake and booze at Eugene‘s 50th birthday party.
Do you remember the first time?
It was crazy and I got really drunk. It was super duper fun. When they played ‘Mr Brightside’, I went absolutely Mad!!!
What do you do for a living?
VR stuff, programming, game design and most recently, light set-up. This light design thing happened accidentally. They wanted me to do projection mapping for a play but in the end the director decided he wanted lights instead. It was my first time. I’m still working on it and it releases at the end of the month. It’s called ‘Purgatory‘.
How would you imagine your 50th birthday to be like?
Halfway to hell! 50th will be the halfway mark to death. I don’t believe in the afterlife but I say ‘hell’ cos it sounds cool. Oh wait. Change that to ‘Halfway to oblivion’. You know, a halfway funeral thing, there will be rock music and people will get to lie in coffins. Experiential.
Do you have an irrational fear of something? What is it?
What do I even fear? Oh shit. Fear of dying alone. There’s nothing I can do about that. But being afraid of that is truly quite irrational. It’s like that line from Drake: started from the bottom now we are here.
What is the most useless talent you have?
I can blow a spit bubble with my tongue. One of my friends was doing it and so I tried.. AND I COULD DO IT. A natural.
Describe Eatmepoptart in three words.
Fun, Crazy & Young. Okay I need to find a cooler word …Fearless.
We met Eugene in October 2017 at Electric Feel, Cherry Discotheque.
Plenty of goodies in our 2017 Selection November update!
‘F**k mainstream boys!’
Monday is never complete without some new music. So here’s some of our picks.
Jil is as bubbly on the dancefloor as she is in-conversation. She also loves making Sims babies.
