Jumping on the indiediscobandwagon, Friendly Fires are a UK trio consisting of Ed Macfarlane, Jack Savidge and Edd Gibson. Friendly Fires began as a post-hardcore band called First Day Back and eventually became what they are today after University: churning out “lush shoegaze melodies and classic pop songs”
After Cut Copy, Van She, the Rapture and countless many other indiediscobands, I would like to think that the birth of the Ting Tings sounded the death knell for this genre (sorry lah, I’m not that big a fan of them). BUT luckily for you and I, Friendly Fires brings a breath of fresh air to the table. Tracks from their first self-titled album like “Skeleton Boy” and “Jump in the Pool” come with really catchy choruses and groovy disco basslines. Good for that Friday night pre-party boogie drive (oops. no drinking and driving ah! *waves finger to warn*)
So, without further a-do, give ‘em a listen and let their music do the talking!
